The Trouble with Skyrim: Thirty-Five Years Later

UPDATE: Writers cannot do math.

Between a recent re-watching of Star Wars Episode VII and certain Skyrim fanfics I've been reading, thoughts of aging and passing the torch and things left behind have been swirling through my mind lately. So I felt compelled to create aged-up versions of Alesan, Aela, Shelob, and Lucia in the CK and share them with you. If everyone manages to stay alive throughout my current story arc and live happily ever after, this is what they will probably look like in 4E 240 or thereabouts. Hypothetically.

Shelob and Aela haven't changed all that much, except for a few new wrinkles and Shelob's vanishing hairline. They are also just stupidly rich by this point, their untold hoards of adventuring loot and steady income from Companion contracts having allowed them to retire in luxury. They're still capable warriors and enjoy the occasional outing in their beast forms, though their fighting days are mostly behind them. As an Orsimer in his late sixties, Shelob probably has only a few years left in him, so his attention is largely focused on cultivating the next generation of Companions.

Alesan and Lucia are in their forties by now, with families of their own. I'm still fuzzy on the details, but I'm pretty sure Lucia is going to be married to Lars Battle-Born, whose clan is now headed by Idolaf and Alfhild since Jon Battle-Born's elopement with Olfina Gray-Mane some years back. Lucia is the odd one out in the family, as she has no taste for the warrior's life - she prefers comfortable domesticity, helping run the Battle-Born family farm and occasionally moonlighting as a bard in the Bannered Mare. Alesan, by contrast, has taken after his adoptive parents and is now a member of the Companions' Inner Circle. I rather like the idea of Alesan eventually hooking up with Braith, whose more aggressive temperament would also be well suited to mercenary work (like her own father before her). Unlike Lucia, Alesan chose to become a werewolf when he came of age, and he is now working to keep the practice alive within the Circle (though it is now optional rather than compulsory).

When my current story arc finally comes to a close, I think I'll revisit this time period and do some kind of "Where Are They Now" epilogue... though I'll probably wind up just writing it instead of making a comic, because using the CK to give everybody in Whiterun an age boost would be exhausting. I still don't know if I picked the right skin tone for Lucia, since all the Skyrim kids have got those ridiculous spray tans.
